CIRCULAR NO. 02 OF 2002 INCOME TAX |

SUBJECTION: ISSUANCE OF NEW NTN CERTIFICATES CBR had, in past, issued instructions vide Circular No. 15 of 1998 dated 20.9.1998 that NTN certificates/cards expired or reaching their expiry dates would automatically stand revalidated until further orders. Queries are now being received as to whether such NTN certificates/ cards are still valid. 2. The matter has been examined in the Board in the light of the above circular. The above instructions were issued in view of the non-availability of the facility of re-issuances of such cards/certificates. Since Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) has already started issuing new NTN certificates, it has, therefore, been decided that henceforth all such old NTN certificates/cards, issued upto the year 1998, would stand cancelled. Holders of such old certificates/cards, if not already obtained new certificates, would now file fresh applications for issuance of new NTN certificates, having life time validity.
