CBR Year Book
2004-2005 (By DIRECTORATE OF RESEARCH AND STATISTICS)
(2004-2005)

FOREWORD

This is the 15th edition of the CBR Yearbook. It reflects the performance of the CBR in the 2004-05. It contains data relating to Federal Taxes administered by the CBR for the last five years along with a comparative analysis thereof with the preceding years which helps in the true appraisal of the output of the tax collecting departments of the CBR.

2. It is heartening that the CBR has achieved the revenue target assigned for fiscal year 2004-05. In fact, the collection has also surpassed, albeit marginally, the upwardly revised revenue requirement of Rs. 590 billion. With continuous effort on transforming the tax system, it is believed that the tax collection will increase further in future and in the process the tax-GDP ratio will also improve. Nonetheless, continuity of the ongoing reform process in the shape of simplified laws & procedures and facilitation of taxpayers holds the key to success.

3. I commend the hardwork put in by the officers and staff of the Directorate of Research & Statistics, CBR, and the Fiscal Research Wing of CBR in preparation of the Year Book.

4. We look forward to receiving your feedback on this effort.
