Audit Wing FBR

National Audit Research Projects

Data Capturing and Analyses

FBR has never undertaken an initiative centered on gathering comprehensive data about audits conducted and analyzing the results in which to formulate policies and procedures. As part of the organization’s Reform initiatives, all audits conducted during the period of January 2008 – January 2009 will be conducted under the umbrella of a National Audit Research Projects.

Utilization of Results

The results will be utilized to improve our ability to detect noncompliance, reduce the burden of unnecessary contacts on compliant Taxpayers and support the strategic goals, program development and resource allocation of compliance programs.

Objectives of National Audit Research Projects:

The main objectives of the National Audit Research Projects will be to:

Establish guidelines and procedures for the overall audit program

• Measure reporting compliance by collecting audit data on individual, small, medium and large Taxpayers.

• Identifying specific areas requiring legislative changes

• Identifying specific suggestions for tax form revisions

• Determine resource needs

• Provide headquarters and field offices with data to aid in strategic Planning.

• Evaluate usefulness of internal FBR data and publicly available third party data associated with each tax return in assessing underreporting or non-filers.
