Intensifying its ongoing crackdown against smuggling and in two back to back successful operations, Pakistan Customs (FBR) at Torkham have seized contraband goods of Rs.130 Million. In the first incident, on 8th January and upon credible intelligence, the customs authorities at Customs Station Torkham checked a vehicle bearing registration no. KBL 827. After a detailed inspection, the Customs staff recovered narcotics consisting 7 kg heroine and 2.5 kg Ice from the fuel tank of the said vehicle. The approximate value of seized drugs is around Rs.100 million in the international market. The truck driver Mr. Rahem Khan, resident of Afghanistan, has been arrested for further legal proceedings.
Likewise, in another incident on 7th January 2022, a vehicle bearing no. 2020-09-0900 loaded with onions came to Pakistan from Afghanistan. It was found suspicious by Customs import staff posted at Customs Station Torkham. After thorough checking, the staff found a huge concealment of transit smuggled goods under an apparent layer of onions. They found 460 cartons of Milano Cigarettes, 50 bundles of suiting clothes, 8 cartons of firecrackers and 200 bags of onions. Total value of smuggled goods is around Rs 30 million. An FIR has been lodged and further legal proceedings have been initiated against the culprits.
It is pertinent to mention that Federal Board of Revenue is following a policy of zero tolerance against smuggling and thereby has increased vigilance and surveillance of cargo movement across the border. Finance Minister, Shaukat Tarin, has commended FBR for its successful anti-smuggling drive across the country. Likewise, Chairman FBR/Secretary Revenue Division, Dr.Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed has appreciated Member Customs (Ops) FBR, Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda, in ensuring zero tolerance against smuggling of all shades and grades. He has announced cash awards and merit certificates for the Customs Team posted at Torkham on conducting two back to back successful operations. He further reiterated his unflinching resolve to fight the menace of smuggling across Pakistan in order to maximize tax compliance.

اسمگلنگ کے خلاف جاری کریک ڈاؤن کو تیز کرتے ہوئے یکے بعد دیگرے کامیاب کارروائیوں میں پاکستان کسٹمز (ایف بی آر) نے طورخم میں 130 ملین روپے کی ممنوعہ اشیاء ضبط کر لی۔ پہلے واقعے میں 8 جنوری کو مصدقہ اطلاع ملنے پر کسٹم اسٹیشن طورخم پر کسٹم حکام نے رجسٹریشن نمبر KBL 827والی گاڑی کا معائنہ کیا۔ تفصیلی جانچ کے بعد کسٹمز کے عملے نے مذکورہ گاڑی کے فیول ٹینک سے 7 کلوگرام ہیروئن اور 2.5 کلو آئس پر مشتمل منشیات برآمد کیں۔ ضبط شدہ منشیات کی عالمی مارکیٹ میں تخمینہ مالیت تقریباً 100 ملین روپے بنتی ہے۔ افغانستان کے رہائشی ٹرک ڈرائیور رحیم خان کو مزید قانونی کارروائی کے لیے گرفتار کر لیا گیا۔
اسی طرح 7 جنوری 2022 کو ایک اورواقعے میں 2020-09-0900 نمبر کی حامل پیاز سے لدی ایک گاڑی افغانستان سے پاکستان آئی۔ کسٹمز سٹیشن طورخم پر تعینات کسٹمز امپورٹ کے عملے نے اسے مشکوک پا کر مکمل معائنہ کیا او پیاز کے تھیلوں کی پرت کے نیچے بھاری مقدار میں ٹرانزٹ اسمگل شدہ اشیاء چھپائی گئی تھی۔ اس میں سے میلانو سگریٹ کے 460 کارٹن، کپڑوں کے 50 بنڈل، پٹاخوں کے 8 کارٹن اور پیاز کے 200 تھیلے ملے۔ سمگل شدہ سامان کی کل مالیت تقریباً 30 ملین روپےبنتی ہے۔ ملزمان کے خلاف ایف آئی آر درج کر کے مزید قانونی کارروائی کا عمل شروع کر دیا گیا ہے۔
یہ بات قابل ذکر ہے کہ فیڈرل بورڈ آف ریونیو اسمگلنگ کے خلاف زیرو ٹالرنس کی پالیسی پر عمل پیرا ہے اوربارڈر پرکارگو کی نقل و حرکت پر کڑی نگرانی مزیدبڑھا دی گئی ہے ۔ وزیر خزانہ شوکت ترین نے ایف بی آر کی ملک بھر میں کامیابی سے جاری انسداد سمگلنگ مہم کو سراہا ۔ چیئرمین ایف بی آر/سیکریٹری ریونیو ڈویژن، ڈاکٹر محمد اشفاق احمد نے تمام طرح کی سمگلنگ کے خلاف عدم برداشت کی پالیسی کو یقینی بنانے پر ممبر کسٹمز (آپریشنز ) ایف بی آر، سید محمد طارق ہدا کی تعریف کی ہے ۔ انہوں نے طورخم میں یکے بعد دیگرے کامیاب آپریشن کرنے پر وہاں تعینات کسٹمز ٹیم کیلئے نقد انعامات اور میرٹ سرٹیفیکیٹس کا اعلان کیا ہے۔انہوں نے ٹیکس کمپلائنس کو زیادہ سے زیادہ کرنے کے لیے ملک بھر میں اسمگلنگ کے ناسورسے نبرد آزما ہونے کے اپنے پختہ عزم کا اعادہ کیاہے۔
