Collectorate of Customs Sumbrial Dry Port, Sialkot

Slumbering by the feet of snow covered peaks of Kashmir valley, and near the emerald green fields & sparkling fresh waters of Chenab lie the jewel of Punjab- Sialkot. The city of Iqbal is inhabitated by the most industrious and purest of the pure people of Punjab.Sialkot is also famous internationally for its quality sports goods , leather garments and surgical instruments.

The Collectorate of Customs, Sambrial Dry Port, Sialkot derives its name from the native town of Allama Iqbal’s mother-Sambrial. Sambrial Dry Port is located in the middle of districts of Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat and Wazirabad all within a radius of 40 KM.

 

HISTORY

 
1978 Assistant Collector, the highest supervisory officer under Collectorate of Customs-Lahore
1985-1986 Sambrial Dry Port established-formal inauguration by the then President of Pakistan.
1987 Deputy Collector (Now Re-designated as Additional Collector) was posted as the highest supervisory officer under the Collectorate of Customs-Lahore.
1994 Collectorate of Customs & Central Excise, Gujranwala established.
2000  Collectorate of Customs, Sambrial established with Collector as the highest supervisory officer.
   

JURISDICTION

 

The Collectorate is responsible for all the Customs functions within the Civil Division of Gujranwala, comprising six destricts namely- Gujranwala, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, and Narowal.The major functions of the Collectorate are:

  • Examination and clearance of import & export consignments at the Dry Port.

  • Assessment / Collection of duties & taxes i.e, Customs duty, Sales tax, central excise duty and income tax on imports.

  • Payment of Refunds & duty drawbacks.

  • Anti-smuggling activity within the jurisdiction of the Collectorate.
