A prestigious ceremony was held at the Collectorate of Customs, Customs House Peshawar, to mark International Customs Day. Member Taxpayer Services, Saeed Akram, graced the event as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Saeed Akram stated that International Customs Day is celebrated every year under the auspices of the World Customs Organization (WCO). Each year, a specific theme is introduced, which guides global customs efforts. This year’s theme, “Customs delivering on its commitment to efficiency, security, and prosperity,” holds particular importance in the context of Pakistan.
He emphasized that the primary goal of Pakistan Customs is to facilitate trade, ensure national security, and curb illegal activities. Pakistan Customs plays a pivotal role in the national economy by contributing significantly to revenue collection. Approximately 45% of the total revenue collected by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) comes from Pakistan Customs, making its role vital for the country’s development, security, and efficiency.
Saeed Akram highlighted that Pakistan Customs was the first in the region to initiate the automation of its systems, establishing the country’s first fully automated collectorate. He noted that Pakistan introduced automation at a time when many developed countries lacked such advanced systems. This journey continued with the introduction of an indigenous automation program, further simplifying and enhancing trade processes.
Discussing the Single Window System, he explained that this platform integrates all departments involved in customs clearance under one roof. Instead of navigating through multiple departments, traders can now complete all necessary processes, including obtaining NOCs and other documentation, in one place through the Single Window System.
Saeed Akram remarked that Pakistan Customs is not only a pioneer in automation but also a global leader in this field. He revealed that last year, FBR collected PKR 9.3 trillion in revenue and set this year’s target at 40% higher than the previous year. He expressed gratitude that all efforts are underway to achieve this ambitious goal.
He further mentioned that Pakistan Customs plays a key role in the digital transformation of the FBR to ensure equal opportunities for all traders. He proudly stated that Pakistan successfully achieved its December 2024 target and is confident of meeting future goals as well.
In conclusion, Saeed Akram reiterated the collective commitment to putting Pakistan on the path to progress, envisioning a day when the country will be counted among the developed nations of the world, earning global respect and recognition.
At the end of the ceremony, the chief guest distributed shields to the families of Customs martyrs and awarded certificates to Customs officials for their outstanding performance in the passing-out parade.

کلکٹوریٹ آف کسٹمز، کسٹم ہاؤس پشاور میں انٹرنیشنل کسٹمز ڈے کے حوالے سے ایک پروقار تقریب منعقد کی گئی، جس میں ممبر ٹیکس پیئر سروسز سعید اکرم نے بطور مہمانِ خصوصی شرکت کی۔ تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے سعید اکرم نے کہا کہ انٹرنیشنل کسٹمز ڈے ہر سال ورلڈ کسٹمز آرگنائزیشن (WCO) کے تحت منایا جاتا ہے۔ ہر سال اس دن کے لیے ایک تھیم دیا جاتا ہے جس پر عملدرآمد کے لیے عالمی کسٹمز بھرپور محنت کرتے ہیں۔ اس سال کا تھیم "Customs delivering on its commitment to efficiency, security, and prosperity" ہے، جو پاکستان کے موجودہ حالات میں خاص اہمیت رکھتا ہے۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان کسٹمز کا بنیادی مقصد تجارت کو آسان بنانا، قومی سلامتی کو یقینی بنانا اور غیر قانونی سرگرمیوں کو روکنا ہے۔ پاکستان کسٹمز قومی معیشت میں ریونیو کلیکشن کے ذریعے کلیدی کردار ادا کرتا ہے، اور فیڈرل بورڈ آف ریونیو (FBR) کی مجموعی ریونیو کلیکشن میں تقریباً 45 فیصد حصہ کسٹمز کا ہے۔ یہ پاکستان کی ترقی، سلامتی، اور استعداد میں اضافے کے لیے انتہائی اہم کردار ادا کرتا ہے۔
سعید اکرم نے بتایا کہ پاکستان کسٹمز نے خطے میں سب سے پہلے اپنے نظام کو خودکار (automated) کرنے کا آغاز کیا اور ملک میں پہلا ایسا کلیکٹریٹ قائم کیا جہاں تمام عمل مکمل طور پر خودکار تھا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان نے اُس وقت اٹومیشن متعارف کروائی، جب کئی ترقی یافتہ ممالک بھی اس درجے کی خودکار نظام سے محروم تھے۔ ہم نے اس سفر کو آگے بڑھایا اور ایک انڈیجنس اٹومیشن پروگرام متعارف کروایا جس سے تجارت کو مزید آسان اور مؤثر بنایا گیا۔
انہوں نے سنگل ونڈو سسٹم (Single Window System) کے بارے میں بات کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ یہ نظام کسٹمز کلیئرنس سے متعلق تمام محکموں کو ایک ہی پلیٹ فارم پر اکٹھا کرتا ہے۔ اس نظام کے ذریعے مختلف محکموں کے چکر لگانے کے بجائے، تاجروں کو تمام ضروری این او سی اور دستاویزات ایک ہی جگہ پر دستیاب ہو جاتی ہیں۔
سعید اکرم نے کہا کہ پاکستان کسٹمز اٹومیشن کے شعبے میں نہ صرف رہنما بلکہ عالمی لیڈر کا کردار ادا کر رہا ہے۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ پچھلے سال ایف بی آر نے 9.3 ٹریلین روپے کا ریونیو جمع کیا اور اس سال کا ہدف گزشتہ سال سے 40 فیصد زیادہ مقرر کیا گیا ہے۔ الحمدللہ، تمام محکمے اس ہدف کو حاصل کرنے کے لیے بھرپور کوشش کر رہے ہیں۔
ان کا کہنا تھا کہ ایف بی آر کی ڈیجیٹل تبدیلی (Transformation) میں پاکستان کسٹمز بنیادی کردار ادا کر رہا ہے تاکہ تمام تاجروں کو یکساں مواقع فراہم کیے جا سکیں۔ دسمبر 2024 میں ہم نے اپنا طے شدہ ہدف کامیابی سے حاصل کیا اور انشاءاللہ آنے والے وقت میں بھی تمام اہداف مکمل کریں گے۔
آخر میں سعید اکرم نے کہا کہ ہم سب مل کر پاکستان کو ترقی کی راہ پر گامزن کریں گے تاکہ ایک دن ہمارا ملک دنیا کے ترقی یافتہ ممالک میں شمار ہو، اور پاکستان کی عزت و وقار پوری دنیا میں بلند ہو۔ تقریب کے اختتام پر مہمان خصوصی نے کسٹمز شہدا کے ورثا میں شیلڈ تقسیم کیے جبکہ کسٹمز اہلکاروں کو پاسنگ آؤٹ پریڈ میں بہترین کارکردگی دکھانے پر سرٹیفکیٹس سے بھی نوازا۔
