A meeting of Tax Advisory Committee was held in Regional Tax Office, Peshawar, for discussion and redressal of problems faced by the business community/taxpayers.
Mr.Qaiser Iqbal, Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Regional Tax Office, Peshawar/Chairman of the Committee presided over the meeting. Beside Commissioners Inland Revenue, RTO, Peshawar, representatives of the following Chambers/Trade Bodies/Associations/Tax Bar attended the meeting:
i. Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Peshawar.
ii. Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Regional Office), Peshawar.
iii. Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Peshawar.
iv. Markzi Tanzeem-e-Tajiran, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar.
v. Peshawar Chamber of Small Traders & Small Industry, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar.
vi. Peshawar Tax Bar Association, Peshawar.
vii. Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, Peshawar.
The Chief Commissioner explained the reasons and necessity of the meeting. He emphasized upon keeping close liaison between the business community and tax functionaries so that day to day problems are resolved amicably. The Chief Commissioner requested representatives of the business community for cooperation in Broadening of Tax Base, Recovery of Arrears Demand and filing of tax returns by the traders. Chief Commissioner assured representatives of the business community that the issues pertaining to RTO will be resolved immediately whereas issues relating to policy matters will be forwarded to the Board for taking appropriate action. The Chief Commissioner also assured the participants of extending cooperation to the taxpayers/ business community.
Representatives of the trade bodies thanked Chief Commissioner for taking interest in resolving issues faced by the business community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and assured their full cooperation with the department.
