Briefing the meeting, the Chairman FBR, Mr. Ali Arshad Hakeem said that Federal Board of Revenue has almost tripled tax collection in last ten years. He explained that he is redefining its revenue collection strategy to focus on tax enforcement, engaging institutional cooperation, promoting voluntary compliance and expanding the tax education and facilitation program.

The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of FBR and suggested to further focus on effective revenue mobilization and improvements in the tax system. The Prime Minister said that taxes provide the economic base for any government's development program, and while FBR was doing good, we are confident to expand this base even further and have available more funds for the country's growth.
