The Secretary Revenue Division and Chairman FBR Mr. Nisar Muhammad Khan formally inaugurated Large Taxpayers Unit-II, Karachi on 1st March 2016 in an impressive ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by prominent businessmen, various chamber representatives, tax bar members and senior officers of IRS. A special supplement in various national dailies was also published on that occasion. The function started with an informal gathering on 1st floor of Main Regional Tax Office where the Chairman unveiled the opening plaque. Afterwards, in a formal gathering in the auditorium, Ms. Nausheen Javaid Amjad, Chief Commissioner LTU-II presented her welcome address and thanked the Chairman for sparing time out of his busy schedule. It was followed by an introductory speech of Dr. Muhammad Irshad, Member IR (Operations) who outlined all the operational hurdles he overcame in materializing this LTU-II in such a short span. In his seminal address, the Chairman expressed the government’s resolve to provide maximum facilitation to the taxpayers especially the corporate clientele of FBR. He demonstrated complete faith in the professional abilities of the current team of IRS in general and LTU-II in particular towards achieving the revenue targets assigned to FBR. Later on both the Chairman and the Member were presented with LTU-II mementos and their portraits drawn by Khurshid Marwat, Commissioner (HRM), LTU-II. The function was followed by a lunch and a media talk by the Chairman. Towards the end of his visit, the Chairman also held an interactive session with the officers of IRS in Karachi where several burning issues were candidly brought up before the Chairman and the Chairman assured the officers to look into all of them upon his return.
