UNODC – WCO CONTAINER CONTROL PROGRAMME AWARENESS WORKSHOP FOR SENIOR MANAGER WAS CONDUCTED AT THE DGTR ON 31ST MAY & 1ST JUNE 2013.
UNODC – WCO Container Control Programme Awareness Workshop for Senior Manager was conducted at the DGTR on 31st May & 1st June 2013. Around Seventy Senior Managers from all over Pakistan attended the workshop. Representative from FBR. ANF & UNODC attended the course. The workshop was organized in the auditorium of the DGTR. Brig. Mr. Mohammad Wajid, Force Commander Regional Directorate, ANF Karachi graced the occasion as the chief guest on the first day.
The Director, DGTR Ms. Rubina Wasti formally inaugurated the workshop & emphasized the importance of Container Control Programme in the current precarious situation where there is movement of illicit trade, drugs and precursors around the world. She emphasized on the role of interagency corporation within the states and international community.
Later on presentation was given Brig Mr. Mohammad Wajid of ANF. He gave a detailed presentation on the role of drugs interdiction. He also pointed out that ANF interdicted
a biggest consignment of Acetic Anhydrite which is largest interdiction made so far by the PCU.
Presentation was also given by Mr Zubair Yousanfi, Chief International Customs FBR Islamabad. His presentation was on Global Shield Programme & Improvised Explosive Devices. The presentation was very comprehensive & informative.
On the second day of the workshop Mr. Shahruk Mehboob Ikram Training coordinator UNODC, Islamabad dilated upon the training imparted to the workforce.
Mr. Shamim Akhter, Senior Preventive Officer PCU (Customs) Karachi presented a case study & role of PCU at Customs. He also gave an insight on the communication tools.
Extensive Presentations were given by Programme Manager Mr. Jaffery Todd Programme Global Shield, WCO and Mr. Varudhi To Vmayam Member Programme Global Shield WCO.
Mr. Amir Mohammad Khan Marwat Director General, Customs Valuation, Karachi was the Chief Guest on the Second day of Seminar. Mr. Marwat appreciated the efforts of DGTR & especially appreciated the role of Director Training DGTR, Madam Rubina Wasti in conducting the workshop. He also spoke on the importance of Programme Global Shield & PCU. At the end mementos & certification were distributed among the participants & Guest Speakers.
The Director, DGTR thanked all the guests and the participants for their active participation.
