Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a clarification on the aired news about excess charging of customs duties and taxes on mobile phones. FBR has stated that recently, in a meeting with PTA, it transpired that the passengers can register up to 5 mobile phones on their passports and in case of high end phones of more than USD 500, the difference of duty/taxes between passport and CNIC registration is about Rs. 9,000/-.Accordingly, in order to correct this anomaly and to limit the registration of mobile phone against passport up to one set, the WeBOC module was modified through CRF (change request form). However, during the process, the exemption of withholding tax was also deleted and thus now the system was showing total taxes on passport as Rs 36,720/-.
FBR has stated that the issue has been taken up with Director (R&A) Karachi and the team is reviewing the module to resolve the issue and restore the previous amount of leviable duty/taxes. The issue will be resolved tomorrow afternoon. Due to this glitch in the system, all those who paid more duty would be refunded the excess amount forthwith. FBR regrets inconvenience caused to those who had to pay excess duty and taxes.
موبائل فونز پر زائد کسٹمز ڈیوٹی و ٹیکسز پر ایف بی آر کی وضاحت
فیڈرل بور ڈ آف ریونیونےموبائل فونز پر عائد کسٹمز ڈیوٹی کے حوالے سے نشر کی جانے والی خبروں پر وضاحت جاری کر دی ہے۔ وضاحت میں کہا گیا ہے کہ حال ہی میں پی ٹی اے کے ساتھ ہونے والی میٹنگ میں اس بات کا علم ہوا کہ غیر ملکی مسافر اپنے پاسپورٹ پر پانچ موبائل فونز رجسٹرڈ کر سکتے ہیں اور 500 امریکی ڈالر سے زائد مالیت کے فون پر عائد کسٹمز ڈیوٹی و ٹیکسز ادائیگی کا پاسپورٹ اور شناختی کارڈ کے ذریعے رجسٹریشن میں فرق تقریبا" 9000 روپے ہے۔ اس فرق کو ختم کرنے اور پاسپورٹ کے ذریعے رجسٹریشن کے تحت صرف ایک فون کی اجازت کے لئے وی بوک موڈیول میں تبدیلی کی جارہی تھی۔ اس پراسیس کے دوران تکنیکی خرابی کی وجہ سے ودہولڈنگ ٹیکس کی چھوٹ سسٹم سے خارج ہو گئی جس کی وجہ سے پاسپورٹ پر فون رجسٹریشن پر 36720 روپے کسٹمز ڈیوٹی چارج ہونے لگی۔ اس مسئلے کے فوری حل کی کوشش جاری ہے اور تکنیکی ٹیم وی بوک موڈیول کو جانچ پڑتال کر رہی ہے اور عائد ڈیوٹیز اور ٹیکسز کی درستگی کر رہی ہے۔ کل تک اس مسئلے کو ٹھیک کر لیا جائے گا ۔ اس تکنیکی خرابی کی وجہ سے جن افراد سے زائد ڈیوٹیز و ٹیکسز لئے گئے ہیں ان کو زائد ادا شدہ رقم فی الفور ریفنڈ کر دی جائے گی۔ ایف بی آر اس خرابی کی وجہ سے ان کوپیش آنے والی مشکل پر معذرت خواہ ہے۔
